Your experienced instructor will guide students through the basics of a two-person, virtual improv scene through hands-on exercises. Scenic techniques include mirroring & leaning into emotion, exploring wants & status, and playing the beats of a scene through the beginning, middle & end. Building on these two-person exercises, we focus on adding a third player through the strategies of purposeful entrances & exits and the giving & taking of focus. The class culminates in the performance of fully-realized improvised one-act plays by utilizing playwriting techniques on the fly, including identifying lead & supporting characters and communicating act structure.
Micah Sherman has been improvising for over two decades. He has taught improv from Maui to Oslo. Mostly in between. Here are some stages he's performed on: The Second City, iO, Annoyance, UCB, PIT, Magnet, Improv Asylum, Improv Boston, Improv Iceland, Det Andre Teatret, ComedySportz.
