Christine Ann Olivas, Sam Kap and Paul E. Reese have produced over 10 successful comedy shows, both IRL (remember that?) and virtually. And now we’re joining forces to transparently share our learnings, best practices, and tips for a successful show.
In this 3-hour afternoon workshop, we’ll cover the basics (ticketing, technology, social media, run of show, producing roles), as well as ways to take your shows to the next level. And, perhaps most importantly, we’ll share how to promote your show in a way that gets butts in seats – so your comics will make money for their hard work and craft.
This workship includes the chance to co-produce a virtual graduation show and a free pass to a weekly Off Mic open mic!
Sam Kap is a Philly native, vegan food lover, and avid bicycling commuter. She co-produces and co-hosts No Mo Sexual FOMO, Philly’s best sex education comedian show and also co-produces and co-hosts Fools For Good, a virtual comedy fundraiser benefit. She has performed at PHIT, City Winery, and REC Philly.
Christine’s comedy centers around observations on her life – from her Fundamentalist Christian, homeschooled upbringing to her liberal arts education in California. She has performed on local comedy/storytelling shows (Tell Me a Story, Comedy Incarnate, Story Hole, and Pass the Mic, to name a few) and at established venues in Philly (Punchline, Good Good Comedy Theatre, Philly Improv Theater), Tempe, Las Vegas, and NYC (Greenwich Village Comedy Club, Broadway Comedy Club).
Christine is also a talented, visionary show producer in her own right, creating and hosting comedy shows that equally benefit performers and venues — while thoroughly engaging audiences. She is the brain behind 8 original comedy shows. The most provocative of all is “No Mo’ Sexual FOMO,” a unique experience combining standup and sex education.
Paul(i) Reese comes to Off Mic just like all ya’ll—stuck at home ‘cuz COVID. They have worked in comedy as a technical director, musical improv/freestyle hip-hop director, sketch writer, production designer, and teaching artist on live stages (in the Before Covid Era) and on the interwebs (now in the Covid Era) for the Philly Improv Theater, Good Good Comedy, Yale University, and Freestyle Love Supreme Academy, to name a few. They are the co-founder and co-creator of the groups Listen Lurkers: an improvised musical e-show and Props: a hip-hop game show with David Bradshaw.
